Our Guatemala team will assist staff and missionaries at Casa Bernabe (The Barnabas House), a place of healing for children who have been traumatized. Over 160 children, from infancy to age 18, are living, learning and experiencing healing at Casa Bernabe. The staff of Casa Bernabe value prayer and believe that healing happens as they bring these children into the presence of the Lord. We are looking for eager servants who are flexible and willing to work wherever needed. Jobs may include serving in the school, church, vocational training center or in various houses. Team members may be asked to work in the garden, help with sports or games, or assist with the worship arts program. There is also a need for team members with maintenance skills. We strongly encourage applicants to work on conversational Spanish skills, as this will allow you to participate in a wider range of ministry opportunities.
Do you long to make a difference this summer? We want you on our team! We will be serving alongside experienced missionaries in a very poor rural community which has many children and few resources. Our desire is to show these children and their families how much Jesus loves them. We do this through community outreach including children and youth activities, Sunday School programs, literacy and English classes, along with practical work and building projects. The children you will bless have to work hard to help their families survive, and they have very little time to play. Join us in ‘The Smile Project’ as we work to put smiles on the faces of the children!
If you thrive on variety, this team is for you! Our team will be working alongside experienced missionaries and local believers to reach children, youth, and families in very disadvantaged communities. We will show high school and primary students¬who are faced with many challenges such as poverty, abuse, drugs and AIDS¬that they are valuable as we share Jesus through words, music and drama. We will assist with children’s ministry and school-holiday programs in the community and at a local children’s home. Activities with the children will include dance, storytelling and arts/crafts activities. We will also help with various practical tasks such as painting, weeding, building, sorting, cleaning, and burning fire-breaks. Our team will participate in training opportunities and local church services, which will help equip us for ministry and build our awareness of this vibrant culture!
For the first time, Rainbows of Hope is hosting a team to work with children in crisis who live in the U.S. Team members will live at the Rainbows of Hope Headquarters in South Carolina, where they will receive training. Each day the team will travel less than an hour away to serve at a home for severely abused children. Because of the abuse they have experienced, the children are at this time unable to cope in either foster care or public school. The childrens' home is Christian-based, and chapel is held every Tuesday afternoon. Children at the home have social workers, doctors, and therapists working with them. Our team will help in various ways, which may include VBS-type activities, spiritual guidance and mentorship, teaching practical living skills, tutoring, helping out the staff in offices or on the grounds, reading to the children and teaching relational skills through fair play. This trip is a great opportunity to fulfill internship requirements, as there will be training offered at the children’s home and through Rainbows of Hope. Costs include room and board, as well as gas and other transportation for the summer’s ministry.
