WEC Trek October 2010 Office News
Greetings from Andi in the Trek office!
Yes, as of today I am officially “flying solo” here in the Trek office. Ron and Tonda are packing up their moving truck as I write this, and heading off to their new home tomorrow. I praise God for the past 4 months I was able to spend with them in the office, learning all the ins and outs of the Trek program before they left. Now, however, I am faced with a slightly intimidating task: directing and running Trek with part-time hours! Fortunately, my sister-in-law, Marti, will be helping out in the office for a few hours every afternoon starting at the end of October. Her family has also recently returned from serving in the Middle East, and my kids are really enjoying having their cousins living right next to them! Our biggest prayer request right now is for the Lord to bring more help into the Trek office! We are asking specifically for a man who can build into the lives of our male Trekkers and who can work full-time for Trek (although we will take a part-timer gladly!). Our God is a big God! He has built up this ministry to recruit, prepare and send short-termers out to our fields, and we believe that He wants this program not only to continue, but also to grow and thrive. For the sake of those who have never heard His name…the unreached. What a privilege to be a part of it! We are trusting Him to provide all that Trek needs. Thanks for praying with us.
From now on, I will be your contact and source for info, prayer requests, and anything else that you need. We are praying for you, so send us an update on your life and your requests!
An Update from Ron & Tonda…
Hard to believe but this will be Tonda’s and my last Trek update. Our Camp Hill send off was this morning (Oct. 1). Holly and Andi gave us a book with pictures of all of our orientation groups since 2000 so you are in it. We are so blessed to have worked with so many wonderful trekkers. Sending you and receiving you back (with the other 150 previous) has been like working with our own family. Guess we are a family.
We’ve had Bethany’s wedding-wonderful mixture of American and Brazilian. There were about 200 people in the dining room/lounge for the sit down reception. A lot of work but it went well. By the time you get this we will be packed up-moved-and in the process of unpacking. Moving day was October 5. Lots of changes—we are an empty nest with Hannah in NC already and Lydia in Georgia. We are excited to begin work with Rainbows of Hope in January and in the mean time we’ll be getting settled in Charlotte and caring for our parents.
