Hi, my name is Andi. I’m new here in the Trek office and very excited to be here! My husband Steve and I worked with WEC among Muslims for 2 ½ years, along with our 2 kids, Kirsten (5 yrs) and Jordan (3 yrs). We recently moved back here to the Headquarters to begin new ministries within the mission. Steve is training in Member Care and working in Maintenance on the grounds, and I am busily training here in the WEC Trek office. Come October, I will be the only one left here, as the Lord is moving Ron, Tonda and Rona on to new places! I’m excited to be a part of encouraging and helping people find God’s role for them in world missions through this program. What a joy it is to be able to train and send out people all around the world to unreached nations! Already I’ve learned a ton and there is much more that I need to learn in the next few months so pray that I will be a quick study and that God will bring more administrative help into the office as needed. I’m glad to have the privilege of following up with you over the next few months as you continue to process your Trek experience. I hope that we will be able to talk in the future so I can get to know you a little better, and please don’t hesitate to call me anytime with questions, issues, things I can pray for, or even if you just need someone to listen for a while! We are praying for you!
Leaving became a little more real this past month. For starters this was our last orientation. We could not help but think “This is the last time I’ll teach this class”. Following that we went through all our notes making sure they were in good shape for the next teacher. It is amazing, you teach something for 10 years, then you realize there are no notes about where the Korean market is, what stores are welcoming, that you have to remember to buy the Korean snack and how to get to the prayer walking neighborhood, so we are both beefing up the notes and this only reinforced that we are leaving.
Next we started boxing up all the non-essentials in our apartment, for our load #1 to Charlotte on July 13. The final thing is our parents and children are really focusing on the fact that we are coming home soon. They mention it every call. So, pray for us that we finish well. We know we are leaving the office in good hands. We are really going to miss working with Andi and Rona.
Deepening our relationship, wedding plans, immigration details and moving a household to Brazil can at times be overwhelming. René and I are taking it one step at a time with each thing. Please pray for us that all the details come together in His time. René was told when he entered the country on May 25, that if he tried to enter again within 6 months he would be denied. Therefore he is staying until we leave together in October. This has been a blessing to be together. We appreciate your prayers.
Lots of changes are happening in my life. I am getting married on July 17 in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and will be relocating there. “Coincidentally” (nothing’s a coincidence in God’s plans!) Hamilton is the same city where WEC’s Canadian headquarters is located, so there’s a good possibility I will serve there part-time in a few months. Initially, though, I will return for about 3 months back here to help train Andi and to be here while the Byrums transition out of Trek and return to North Carolina. So I covet your prayers for this time of transition for me, and for the time away from my new husband Peter while I’m back here and he’s up there. And do pray for new personnel for the Trek office, so that Andi doesn’t feel too overwhelmed with all the responsibilities she’s now taken on. God bless you.
Have you moved, joined the foreign legion or lost touch with us? We’d love to know where you are and what you're doing. Let us know where you are by updating your address.
