A friend of mine, who absolutely LOVES the Christian band Switchfoot, told me that the group was coming to Mexico City on tour. I thought it would be fun to see how much tickets cost, and since it would not be wise to go to Mexico City alone, it would be good to have another person attend with me.
I have discovered that when you invite someone to an event, the expectation in Mexico is that the host will pay the bill for the invited guest. So, after some contemplation, I thought, “Well, it was a nice idea, but I just don’t see how I can pay for two tickets.” Added to the cost would be public transportation (bus, metro and taxi)—way out of my budget. Bummer.
Well, the story does not end there. Within two days I received two separate and very unexpected donations. I believed the Lord was providing a very special gift for my friend and I to attend this concert. What a joy it was for me to give to others what He has blessed me with over and over again. Just seeing the expression on my friend’s face when I told her the unexpected news was pure joy to my heart!
The Lord not only provided the money for the concert, but we were able to pay the little extra for reserved seats. Thank God, because after walking all over Mexico City before the concert, we were VERY happy to not be in the standing-room-only section, but could sit down!
Both of us had a great time. We felt the Lord’s protection as we navigated all around the city, which was crowded because of the Independence Day celebration that week. Thanks to the Lord for this extra special gift.
