Send in the Outlines or notes you make on the books or articles that you have read at the same time you send the Checklist that the required Reading is connected with.
If you haven’t finished the book when the Checklist is due, just mark on the checklist that you will send the notes/outline later.
Yes, the Reading List for the WEC Core program is extensive. Approach this list of readings as a personal learning experience in light of what you are being called to do. You are going overseas for two years to a foreign culture to be a representative of Jesus Christ. You may or may not have had the chance to do Theological or Biblical studies in this season of your life experiences. If you haven’t, this list of readings will give you a good basis for the task ahead.
Because the readings are extensive, you will need to skim read the books. Unless you have gifts as a speed reader, you won’t have time to read them all word for word. As you go along, write and expanded paragraph outline of the parts of the readings that grab your attention is some way. This will help you retain the information that you may find helpful to you on your trip. Don’t know what an expanded paragraph outline looks like? Here is an example of one. Just remember, there is no right or wrong way to do this. It is all about being a learner.
The following Reading Lists correspond with the checklists you need to do. This helps you to pace yourself in your reading. There are some books listed in a group with the word OR between them. Choose which one book of the group that you want to read. (You are allowed to read more than one book in a group but you can’t substitute it for a book in another group.)You can get books at your local library or a university or seminary library nearby or you can find any of these books on Amazon.
The Required Reading List Checklist can be printed out to help you keep track of your reading assignments.
